Thundersnowstorm Julia

Grandkids were here last night and when it started to lightening and thunder during the blizzard they got a little wild. As for me I thought it was a sure sign of Spring. Anybody that lives in the north country will know about the snow that gets a hard crust on top...the kind we want when we're kids so we can build those snow forts. As adults though not so much as this type of snow doesn't like to go through grannys little snowblower and it's pretty heavy to shovel. So we just did a little then made angels in the snow and came back in the house. Neighbors came by with gigantic snowblower, lucky me.

Owen is doing good with his swimming class. No longer afraid of the water and even jumps in the pool. Hali lost her play phone so she made one out of Blox and talks on the phone all day...a lot like her mother and father.

The rabbits are pretty fat out in the yard and the little evergreens are almost all eaten now. I wonder if my home owners insurance will cover the loss. I never expected rabbits to eat everything like that.

Doing some redecorating, lots of reading, playing computer games, and going for short walks. A little shopping too with granddaughter. She likes to look at clothes in the stores.

Will be meeting with my sisters on Thursday if the plans don't change, looking forward to that.

Moving Day

Son and Grandchildren moved today to their own home. WooHoo. It's been a long year and a half. Lots of good times and fun. Lots of waking up in the night...gramma I can't find my nuk, gramma can I sleep with you...with pillow and blanket in hand. But baking together and skiing and ice skating and shoveling, swimming, going for walks, picnics in the park. Sickness too, learning to poop on the toilet, catching fireflies, sitting on the stoop in the summer looking at the big dipper and the northern lights and the moon. Learning to pick out own clothes and dress, and make beds and do dishes and vacuum and dust and play with the cats and read books and watch movies.

Owens first swimming lesson

I never learned to swim. I will walk in the shallow area of the pool and also duck my head underwater briefly...a second or two. That's the extent of my swimming. But I love the water and regret that I can't swim. As I watched Owen so bravely do 'the log' on his first day in a deep pool, I was so proud of him. I know he was initially frightened but his instructors were so patient and knowledgeable. Hooray, hooray, for the YWCA in Green Bay. Hali came along because of course she couldn't stay home alone and she layed down on Owen's towel and fell asleep.

Owen and Hali waiting for Owen's swimming lesson to start

Owen and one of his instructors...floating on his back
The instructor showing the three little boys in her class how to get their hair wet.

Owen bouncing in the water...his feet don't touch the bottom unless he bounces.

We stopped for ice cream after and had fun eating and laughing and talking about the great lesson. Owen was so happy and proud and Hali really, really enjoyed her ice cream.

Remember the snow of Christmas Eve

The snow that everyone, or almost everyone, hopes for....well here it is again in February
