In February

Rich meanings of the prophet-Spring adorn, Unseen, this colourless sky of folded showers, And folded winds; no blossom in the bowers;A poet’s face asleep in this grey morn.

Now in the midst of the old world forlorn A mystic child is set in these still hours. I keep this time, even before the flowers,Sacred to all the young and the unborn:

To all the miles and miles of unsprung wheat, And to the Spring waiting beyond the portal, And to the future of my own young art,

And, among all these things, to you, my sweet, My friend, to your calm face and the immortal Child tarrying all your life-time in your heart.

The Little Shopper

Even this tired she was resistant to leaving the store. She was looking at the clothes...oh, she glanced at the toys but her real love is the dresses. She picked out three for summer...all pink.
Had to do grocery shopping today and the wash. It was so cold again. It's hard to get warm. On the weekend it's supposed to get up in the twenties so I think we'll go play hockey or sledding or both. Maybe we'll be shoveling too as I hear it's supposed to snow for a couple days again.

Quite a day

I had Owen stay home from school yesterday so he could experience live the inauguration of the first new president in his life time. I took pictures and little movies of the event and here they are...my little Kodak has no sound.... this first one is Hali who is two years old and will be three in May.

And this is my dear Owen who stayed home from school to view this momentous occasion...

Owen had a birthday

It's been so cold outside the last week but now we've entered a warming trend...if you can call three above zero warm. Supposed to be getting up into the twenties early next week. I'm happy to be retired so I don't have to get up before first light anymore.

Winter Skin

Comfrey cream and Calendula ointment are amazing for chapped skin (and diaper rash!)

Ice Skating Moon Chocolate

We went skating at Perkins Park today and it was a blast. The kids sure enjoyed themselves. They have a nice warming house there too but you have to bring your own water and snacks. The warming house opens at noon.

There is the most beautiful full moon outside tonight and the air is crisp and clean. For heavens sake get outside for a couple minutes and breathe in that fresh air and have a look at the beautiful moon!

So I was watching the program on Fox 11, called Living With Amy and she was making this dessert. It's quite good and easy to make. We had it for supper tonight along with ham, green bean casserole and mashed potatoes. We all enjoyed it. Here's the recipe in case anyone else wants to make it. You make it in the crock pot and it takes about 4 hours.

They call it Triple Chocolate Mess hahaha

1 package chocolate cake mix
1 pint sour cream
1 small package instant chocolate pudding
1 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup oil
4 eggs
1 cup water
Directions:
Spray crockpot with non-stick spray. Mix all ingredients. Pour into crockpot. Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours. Serve in a bowl with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.

Goodnight and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Today is the Feast of The Ephphany or Little Christmas

The three kings came today to the stable. My dear Owen has been moving the kings closer and closer to the baby Jesus and this morning I noticed they had reached the stable. It's the last day of Christmas and we took down the tree and decorations. Hali helped me, Owen wanted me to do it when he was at school. The tree is in the backyard for shelter until the weather warms up.
I am hopeful that 2009 will be a good year and we will see the end to the wars.
