Snow all melted

Wasn't a very eventful day. Kids here until 9pm. Went shopping with Hali while Owen was at school. Owen wants to have fruit snacks so we got a nice variety of them again. Hali eats mostly oranges. Watched Star Wars Episode IV again. Also watch Fleet Farm. Hali's favorite. It's actually Little Einsteins Farm Animals. Read some books and sang and danced. Owen finds songs on the internet for us...today it was Give Me That Old Time Rock And Roll. Over and over and over. Good exercise though.

I see comments are gone, wonder what I did wrong.

"Daffodils"

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;Beside the lake, beneath the trees,Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:Ten thousand saw I at a glance,Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thoughtWhat wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills,And dances with the daffodils.
Wm Wordsworth

Thinking...could be dangerous for an old woman who wears purple...

President Barack Obama on Friday ordered 4,000 more military troops into Afghanistan, vowing to "disrupt, dismantle and defeat" the terrorist al-Qaida network in Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan. (Viet Nam has a new name) (is this another shock and awe)

I get along well with my grandchildren because we have a lot in common. (We all like to take afternoon naps) (We all like to read large type books)

An old wives tale states that if March comes in like a lion it goes out like a lamb and vise versa.
(This year the first few days of March were warm and sunny) (Guess what's coming tomorrow...yup, that's right, a blizzard)

I am attempting to finish my taxes today. (why so late...this year I have to pay in...again)

I am continuing to clean and downsize the clutter (or as I call it, my collections). I am working on one closet this weekend. Just some of the things I've come across (this is a walk in closet)...a collection of fairy lamps (I love them and I hesitate to get rid of any but I must); a half a dozen outside path lights (purchased three years ago and not put up yet); my first two computers (I never could figure out how to erase the hard drives so I just put them in the closet); A large floor piano (like in that one movie) (it's fun to play but not everyday); yarn, yarn, yarn, yarn, yarn (will I never stop buying yarn) (Oh wait, maybe it's like wire coat hangers and they multiply on their own); Paint by number pictures ( I love them and they have covered four walls already) (oh not ones I've painted, I've never painted any); suitcases (over the years I got a complete set of them from the hospital I worked at...they were gifts) (I haven't gone on a trip in years but I hope to travel Route 66 so I'm keeping them); All the pictures and films I've taken over the years before digital; Movie screen; Projector; New things too...crock pot; games; stitching cards; and believe it or not this is only half of what is in there.

Today was sunny and in the forties I think. I gathered up enough 'clutter' that I had a trunk full to bring to the boutique. Mostly books that I have read, but also magazines, kids clothes, shoes, knick knacks, etc. When I got to the thrift store and unloaded my cars trunk I had inadvertantly locked the car door with the keys inside. Not to worry though, one of the workers got a wire coat hanger and in three shakes of a lamb's tail he had it opened for me. Then I went in the store and got some cloth rabbits and a few little decorations to make Easter pockets out of a pair of Owen's cords that got a big hole in, playing outside. He told me they were his favorites and said he was sad that I couldn't repair them. So I said I'd decorate the pockets. If I think of it, I'll post a picture. Also stopped at Fleet Farm and got sugaring supplies so I can tap the trees tomorrow. I might be a little late this year on that. Got a few packs of annual flower seeds. Climbing ones so I can cover the fence where the rabbits have eaten the little pine trees.

Other than that I just read for a while this afternoon. Reading the Honey Thief again for the first time, LOL. It's after 8:30 so I'm starting to think about supper time. Never know what to have. Maybe sardines on crackers or eggs and beans on toast. A nice big naval orange for dessert and a cup of tea.

Owen's teachers are pulling a little prank on the kids for St. Patrick's Day. When they go outside for recess the room gets a little messed up and they tell them it's the Leprechon (sorry don't know how to spell that). Then on Monday they are going to put out a trap to catch it. Owen is so excited about this that he told the woman at the desk when we went to the YWCA for his swimming lesson. Owen's heritage is half Irish so he's pretty excited about it.

I watched most of Hope Floats again on TV. A good old chick flick, never get tired of it. Two other movies I'd like to see are The Changeling and Mama Mia.

Found a great web site today. Will have to look into it further as there's a chance I can meet up with local three dimensional people. It's http://meetup.com I also enjoy http://twitter.com it's fun to tweak LOL.

Snowstorm Kyle today

I guess eight inches of new snow is expected. It's blowing and drifting. Not much seed left in the feeders but I'm waiting until the morning when the storm ends to fill them. Only one bird at the feeders, looks like a chickadee. Seems to be finding food. Earlier Cooper was here and all the birds took off and haven't been back.

Dr. Seuss

Had a birthday yesterday. Owen and Hali listened for a long time to all our Dr. Seuss books leftover from when their Dad and Aunt were children. Those are fun books to read.

Today Owen was playing football in the yard with his Dad. He sure loves football.

Hali was shoveling, how she loves the snow. She finally came in when she was soaked nearly throughout but did enjoy her nice warm bath and nap after.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!
You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You're on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go.
You'll look up and down streets.
Look 'em over with care.
About some you will say, "I don't choose to go there."
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet,
you're too smart to go down any not-so-good street.
And you may not find any
you'll want to go down.
In that case, of course, you'll head straight out of town.
It's opener there
in the wide open air.
Out there things can happen
and frequently do
to people as brainy
and footsy as you.
And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along. You'll start happening too.
OH! THE PLACES YOU'LL GO!

I stop for rummage sales

said the sign on the back of this truck. It was in front of me on my way to the grocer. I'm not sure if it had just purchased some snow at a rummage sale or if it was delivering some of our abundance to our neighbors to the south. In any case it made me laugh so I took a picture as I was driving along.
