Spring Cleaning

Does anyone do that anymore. I'm on room five today, just two more to go...kitchen and bathroom. Pretty soon my house will be clean enough to hire a housekeeper to come in an clean. It's raining today so not a bad day to clean, except it's Sunday and I like to read on Sunday. Almost done with this room though...the computer, toy room. Every three months I like to pack away all the toys in here and replace them with some that I have packed away three months ago. So far my grandchildren are fooled into believing that they get new toys every three months. In any case, the stored toys are welcomed back. The house next door has been torn down. It took only three hours to raze that and the three stall garage and workshop behind it. It's all hauled away and the hole is filled in with sand, then black dirt, then grass seeds, then straw. It will make a wonderful baseball field/ park this summer.

Owen brought home a White Pine for Arbor Day and we'll plant it sometime this week. It will be the centerpiece for a pink garden...that's Hali's touch. Just don't know if it will be in the backyard...may be too much shade, or the South side garden, may be too much sun. If it ever stops raining that is.

I've joined Twitter but just on my computer as I don't know the cost of having it on my cell phone. I should find out. I have no followers so far and only following Obama. So are any of my dear readers on Twitter?
I fell kind of hard the other day in the kitchen. When I regained my composer I discovered that my right leg and foot were twisted under me. I eventually got up and phoned the doctor. She told me to have someone take me to the clinic where the bone doctors are. So I had myself take me. Bottom line my knee was sprained and my ankle bone was chipped so I have an air cast. I remember breaking my ankle when I was sixteen and had to have on a white plaster cast...this is much more user friendly.

There are beautiful yellow birds at the feeder, looks like about 7 or 8 of them. I've got sunshine on a cloudy day.

I'll see if I have a couple pictures to post.

Swimming Lesson

Hali at two years old is taking lessons now too along with Owen who is five years old. Today Hali learned jumping in, in deep water and floating. Owen had his first lesson in diving. Owen is the only student in his class and Hali and one other are in her class.

Backyard in Spring

Easter egg hunt. The backyard looks pretty brown in early Spring. Slate path in foreground, sandbox, birdbath, bench, compost area, bird feeder pole (squirrels broke off the actual bird feeder). It greens up pretty fast once the warm weather gets here. I got a bigger swimming pool for the yard and am looking for a wooden swing set and swinging bench. Making a little park this summer although there are three parks within walking distance...we go to those as well. Kids had a lot of fun on the hunt. I'm looking for a spot to upload a lot of pictures so as not to worry so much about losing them all. I do save to cd's every six months but in the meantime I am concerned about losing them as this computer is already nine years old. I must stop believing in make do or do without...10 years is too old for a computer and 20 years is too old for an automobile. I can't believe how fast the days go by.

Happy Easter

This is the cake I've been making for, let me see, probably 25 years or so. It's always a little different depending what I have on hand. This year it is mints and licorace. The first year, though, I got the recipe and directions from a magazine. Probably Good Housekeeping or similar. It had gum drops and licorace strings and coconut and I followed the directions exactly. Now, though, the head is a little off the bow tie and I got a little hungry for cake when I was putting it together so I cut off the bottom of the ears. It's quite good, low calorie too this year. Egg whites only. Or is that low colesterol. I'll be alone for Easter this year which is a delicious luxory. I've chosen to have cake and tea with fresh strawberries and carrots and home made dill dip. Come join me.

Clown Town

Owen would hide his eyes and Hali would cry and cry whenever they saw a clown on TV or near a shopping center or at the door of the Big Event For Little Kids. They would cry Clown Town, don't know what that meant but it really scared them to see clowns. So after meeting the sweetest clown in the world Cuddles The Clown and having their picture taken with her...

they are no longer afraid of clowns. Once again it was their fear of the unknown. Here they are the day after when I told them I had some clown makeup in my craft box...

A couple of the other things they enjoyed over the weekend were the bearded dragons and the snakes, which they have never been afraid of, go figure.

This is a dragon...and the yellow thing in the background is one of the snakes. They were so beautiful and plentiful.
Below is Jeremiah the mascot for the baseball team that plays at Joannes, we go to a few of the games. Jeremiah was a bullfrog, he was a good friend of mine, I never understood a single thing he said, but we sure had a mighty fine time. Singing joy to the world, all the boys and girls, joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea, joy to you and me....
Hali having ribbons braided in her hair.

Owen having his face painted with a football. Anything to do with sports puts that smile on his face.

It was a lot of fun at the event, we're looking forward to going next year.

April Fool

These are the 'plants' I gave my grandchildren for April Fool's Day. I guess I overdid it as they thought the worms were real and they wouldn't eat the yucky dirt. Of course the worms are gummy worms and the 'dirt' is crushed chocolate cookies with chocolate pudding underneath. Their all time favorite dessert but they wouldn't have any of it. April Fool!! LOL
